Roy Keith Powell
Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to William Powell, Sr. and Senita Sinclair, Roy lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. He attended Dinthill Technical College in Spauldings, Manchester, Jamaica, before beginning his career at Alcon as an Operator.
Roy later migrated to New York to pursue studies in Electronics and eventually moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where he joined his father and siblings. He began working at Colts Firearms, where his hard work and leadership earned him the role of Payroll Supervisor. During this time, Roy met and married the love of his life, Audrey Carol Brown Powell. Together they built a beautiful family with daughters, Lisa and Michelle Powell.
From an early age, Roy developed a passion for the game of Dominoes- a passion that grew into mastery. He won numerous championships and proudly represented the Hartford Caribbean American Society, traveling with members to compete in tournaments. Known as a true master of the game, Roy’s charismatic personality and warm spirit made him a friend to everyone he met.
After 30 years of dedicated service to Colts Firearms, Roy retired and relocated with his wife Audrey and daughter Lisa to Clermont, Florida. There he continued to give back to his community by working part-time with the Lake County School District.
Roy passed away peacefully on November 23rd, surrounded by his loving wife, daughters , grandson, and his beloved dogs Donnie Pedro and Myla. His legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and bothers Ronald Powell and William Eric Powell, Jr. He is survived by his wife Audrey, daughters Lisa and Michelle, grandson Chance, siblings Rona Powell and Marion Jacobs, extended family and countless friends who cherished his vibrant spirit.
A celebration of Roy’s life will be held at South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery at 11am with a repast held immediately after.
