Mr. Edgar Benjamin Stafford's Obituary
Edgar B. Stafford, born in Anderson, Texas on December 4, 1938 to the late James B. and Rachel Stafford passed on December 15, 2016. He reached the age of 78 just a few days ago on December 4th. Edgar grew up in Baytown, Texas where he attended Harlem Elementary School in the community of McNair. He later attended George Washington Carver High School in Baytown, At Carver, he evolved as an outstanding football player who :ran over and under" most of his opponents. After high school, he attended Prairie View A&M University where he received a Master's degree in Education. While at Prairie View, he not only received a Master of Education, he met the lady he married and created a family with - Jean Acrey. They married June 30, 1962 and remained together until his death. One son, Gary was born into this union.
Upon graduating from Prairie View, Edgar began working for Houston Independent School District. During his time in education, he experienced working all levels in the education arena ending with his favorite job - coaching football. He retired in January, 2006.
Edgar is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean; his son, Gary (Deborah); his granddaughter, Mariah; his grandson, Kameron; his sister, Glenna Faye; his sister-in-law, Freddie Hardy (Earl); his nephew, Charles (Helen); his nephew, Kerry (Lisa); and several great nieces and great nephews. He and his infectious grin will be missed.
