To Lisa, Ced, Maiya & Devin I am extending my deepest sympathy in the loss of your dad & my friend. I was introduced to Dwight by his late wife Barbara, as my co-worker and soon to become one of my best friends. As our friendship grew, I was invited into their home for endless weekend events. Dwight was an exceptional craftsman, instrumental in maintaining family events, a strong pillar in the neighborhood and showed great warmth towards others. He was the type of individual that that took extreme pride in his appearance, “DRESSSED to IMPRESS” every time he stepped out. Lisa the love that you extended to both of your parents was “UNCONDITIONAL”, and for that I applaud you. The friendship with your family has been maintained for nearly fifty years. Your dad will be truly missed but never forgotten. Rest in Peace my friend.

Fifty year ago when I walked into Building 32 at the NASA Manned Spacecraft Center now the Johnson Spacecraft center, as we prepared to send a Man to the Moon I met Dwight as one of the many personnel from New York who were on temporary duty supporting chamber testing of the Lunar Exploration Module which made the historic landing of Apollo 11 with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the Moon.
There were not many “Africans Americans” in the Joint at that time so we naturally connected with the Grumman Technicians.
We struck up a friendship which has lasted over five decades. Dwight’s home was the epicenter for weekend activities where he shared his numerous skills (electronics, carpentry, guidance, etc. with us). He taught us how to work on cars and fix our homes.
Our wives and kids became connected with Dwight and Barbara and spent many festive times together, Cheryl, Lisa, John, Hanky and Gerald to name a few were the baby sitters for our kids Vykie and Caroline.
When my wife Jean became ill, Dwight took time to assist with her visits to the neurologist and oncologist and allowed me to go to work.
The pedestal over my fire place and a cabinet for my television are reminders of his excellent wood working skills
Dee and as we called him “Dapper Dan” was always stylishly attired on holidays and when we attended functions, he was the best dressed.
We spent many happy hours at the various neighborhood Clubs and we always had lots of fun together with our gang of friends and relatives.
Dwight was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother and friend
Thanks for you friendship and assistance over the years, I will miss you my friend and may you continue to Rest in Peace
