Willie attended Lincoln High School, upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force to faithfully serve our country. When he left the Air Force, he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, TX.
In May 1967, Willie became a cadet officer in class #35 of the Houston Police Department. During his tenure with the department, he was assigned to the Central, Juvenile, and Southeast Divisions. Willie was promoted to Senior Officer due to his excellent merits and leadership qualities, and he served as a mentor and trainer to countless new officers of the Houston Police Department. After thirty-eight years of service, Senior Officer Fields retired from the Houston Police Department.
In January 2005, Willie would continue his service to the community by joining the Harris County Constable Precinct 7 Department. There he would serve in the Civil Process Division under the leadership of Constable May Walker. Deputy Willie Fields proudly retired in August 2018.
With over 51 years of service, Willie truly lived the law enforcement motto 'To Protect and Serve'. He made an impact on the community and the officers he worked with protecting the city of Houston. Willie would tell stories about being the HPD officer assigned to the visiting team’s dugout during the Houston Astros’ games, which was one of his favorite duties as a sports enthusiast. For over 15 years, he was featured on the jumbotron at the Astrodome and Minute Maid Park standing at salute for the National Anthem before each game.
