Daddy,
I will always remember the good things about you, and the good times with you. I will always remember you putting on records from your huge collection, and dancing around the livingroom with us on Saturday mornings. I will remember you teaching me how to play chess so strategically that I could win in 3 moves. I will remember you teaching me how to put my shoes on the right foot in a way that only you could. I'll remember seeing "Frogman"and all of your military books on the shelf, and being inspired to join the Navy as a result of your love for those things. No human is perfect, but your imperfections didn't take away from your brilliance, your creativity, and your wit. I only ever wanted the best for you, and only wanted you to want those things for yourself as well. Now you are at perfect peace with the Lord and no longer suffering, and I am thankful for that, but I will miss you so much. I'll miss your smile, and your big laugh, and how you always handled me with care because I was "your quiet, sensitive baby". They say that you only live as long as the last person who remembers you, and if that's true, as long as I live, you will live through me (and Laylah, who acts a LOT like you). Any pain ever shared between us has been healed and forgiven. I will hold you in my heart forever. I will love you forever. Rest well, Daddy. Hug Mama Elsie and PawPaw for me. I love you much.
