A Life Remembered and Loved

Theodore P. Kelley transitioned into eternal peace on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital. A man of strong faith, Kelley will be remembered as a loving, protective brother, uncle, loyal friend, and well-loved son.
Born on April 27, 1943, to Mildred D. Kelley and Theodore T. Kelley in Charenton, Louisiana. Kelley completed his primary and secondary education at Willow Street Public School in Franklin, Louisiana. After graduating high school, he attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
At a very early age, Kelley was baptized at Trinity United Methodist Church in Baldwin, Louisiana. Upon moving to Houston, Tx, he became an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, now under the leadership of Rev. Edward C. Jones III.
Kelley’s professional career spanned a period of many years, where he served as the Director of Food Services at Dillard University and LSU in Louisiana; University of Houston, Texas Southern University and Prairie View A&M University in Texas; The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Seton Medical Center in Austin Texas; just to name a few.
Kelley left a lasting impression on every life he touched. He was a member of 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Houston, Inc., devoting time to mentor young men in education, self presentation, proper manners, and how to become respectful men in society. Many will remember Kelley for being a tough, proud and spirited man who created valuable friendships throughout his life.
Kelley was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, father and parents, Hilliard and Mildred Buckner.
He is survived by five siblings; Dianna Vincent, Jacqueline Buckner, Walter Keith Buckner (Netania), Mercia Miles (Clay), Tonya Womack (Donald) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
