Mrs. Shelley L. Mohedano's Obituary
Shelley Mohedano, 49, of Floresville, Texas, passed away June 26, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shelley was born on August 28, 1972 to Wally and Maryln McKee in Hobbs, New Mexico. After Shelley graduated from Socorro High School in 1990, she found herself drawn to serve her country, so she enlisted in the United States Air Force.
Shelley met Robert in 1990 in Horizon, Texas and fell in love instantly. Shelley went on to have a long loving marriage of 32 years and was blessed with two incredible children, Lane and Savannah, who were her entire world.
Shelley was a valued member of the military intelligence community and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Shelley was a true Texan through and through, so the only thing she enjoyed more than serving her country was jamming out to some George Strait and Toby Keith.
Following a successful 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force that took her to places such as Hawaii, Maryland, South Korea, and Crete, Shelley retired from active duty. Shortly after military retirement, she began working for the National Security Agency in San Antonio, Texas, where she continued to serve her country for more than 10 years. Throughout her life, Shelley was blessed with many close friends who loved her, such as her adopted son David Sendejo, her close friend and rock Edie, and her entire military intelligence family.
Shelley was a strong, quick-witted woman who wasn’t keen on showing what she called “mushy” emotions, but in spite of that she always made sure her family, friends and bratty dogs all knew the never-ending love she had for them.
When facing a challenge, Shelley was known to find the humor in it, and rarely complained, except about losing the hair on her head instead of her legs after her cancer treatments.
Shelley was preceded in death by her father Wally, mother Maryln, and step mother Gayle. Shelley is survived by her husband and best friend, Robert Mohedano, her cherished children, son, Lane Mohedano, daughter, Savannah Mohedano , brother, Greg Cofey, sister, Kristi McKee Cookston and more friends than she would ever admit to.
Shelley was known to be tough as nails throughout her life and is undoubtedly making her way quickly through the pearly gates so she can take charge.
In lieu of flowers the family would gratefully accept donations made to the Go Fund Me account, established to assist Shelley’s family with unexpected expenses. https://gofund.me/c4b47bdf
