Ms. Shelia Denise Johnson Waldon's Obituary
Loving mother, Shelia Denise Johnson Waldon (61), of Houston, TX passed away on October 20, 2022, comfortably at home.
Shelia, the fourth of five children to Carey and Lessie Johnson, was born on August 17, 1961. Although not a member of a church at her passing, Shelia was raised Christian and baptized at an early age. After graduating from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1979, she went on to earn a Bank Teller Certification.
Shortly after, Shelia would welcome her first bundle of joy, Terry (42). In 1981, she met William “Frank”. The two would later marry and together welcome 4 children: Marcus (39), Jessica (37), Brittanie (33) & Jasmine (31). Shelia was a wonderful and loving mother who gave her all to her family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.
A valued team member of IHOP Restaurant for the past 16 years, Shelia was always ready with a helping hand and a kind word. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of working with her.
Shelia loved to cook, serve, and entertain. On Sundays, she cooked huge meals for her family…and much of the neighborhood as well. She loved watching others enjoy the food she prepared. As a devoted mother, she introduced her children to wander and travel with family trips, treated them to Blockbuster Fridays, and attended many events as a family.
Shelia is predeceased by both parents: Carey & Lessie, her older brothers: Esau & Danny, and her baby sister Karen.
She is survived by her five children, Terry, Marcus, Jessica, Brittanie and Jasmine and her two grandchildren, Terrance and Brooklyn; her sister, Gladys (Edwin) Brooks; her God-daughter Kiera, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Shelia touched so many lives and the memories with her will far outlast the sorrow her passing has brought. Her children thank you for all of the kind words.
Ms. Shelia Johnson Waldon entered into eternal rest on October 20, 2022
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 5, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Cullen Missionary Baptist Church, 13233 Cullen Blvd., Houston, TX 77047
