Mr. Reese Dell Buggs Sr.'s Obituary
On April 13, 2026, Reese Dell Buggs Sr. of Houston, Texas passed away at the age of 82 in Germantown, Maryland. The second of four sons born to Newvell and Ethel (Edwards) Buggs, Reese was born on October 10, 1943 in Mansfield, Louisiana.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling from Texas Southern University. At TSU, he was initiated into the Beta Upsilon chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and continued his fellowship with the brotherhood through the Houston Alumni Chapter.
Reese’s professional journey serving as a Program Director for the Julia C. Hester House, a top 2% sales representative for IBM, Chief of Staff for Texas State Representative Harold Dutton, and member of the Appeals Review Board of the Harris County Appraisal District.
Reese was preceded in death by his parents Newvell and Ethel Buggs, and his brother Jerry Buggs.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Alydia Stafford Buggs, daughter Lisa Buggs Harris (Dr. Monte O. Harris); son Reese Dell Buggs, Jr. (Dr. Angelina Williams Buggs); grandsons Landon O. Harris, Esq. and Reese Dell Buggs III; granddaughters Lindsay Alydia Harris and Gabrielle Reese Buggs; bonus granddaughter Keri Bowie; and great-grandson Kase Gatlin. He leaves behind brothers Ralph Buggs (Rosalie) and Perry Buggs (Dr. Jayne McCullough Buggs); brothers-in-law Alvin Stafford (Judy), Frank Stafford, and Paul Stafford; sisters-in-law Candace Bourgeois (Edward) and Debbie Stafford, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary, 5000 Almeda Rd., Houston, TX 77004.
10 a.m. Kappa Alpha Psi ceremony.
10:30 am Rosary.
11 am Memorial Service.
