Mr. Raymond Whitley

Throwing rocks at each other as we walked home daily from Rosewood Elem in Austin, Texas, is how he would introduce me to others. Somehow, I was always the culprit. Without any direct communications, we both enrolled at Texas Southern University after high school. Our journey together as educators, parents, grandparents, Christians and friends will always bring precious memories and joy to me and my family as well.

What a man. What a friend, Baby Raymond. Yellow Jacket strong!

Praying for the Whitley family. Mr. Whitley was a great leader. Out of the school's I taught at during my nearly two decades of teaching, I always referred to him as , "my principal". His servitor to children and his magnetic personality, oh yeah and his ok that's your idea, spearhead that leadership style truly gave flight to the leader I am today. But over all of those tjings, the greatest thing about him was his fruit of the Spirit showed consistently. I will never forget he showed up for my husband's first ordination and encouraged our family in the Lord. Love you Whitley family, he will be missed.

I have lost my dearest and oldest friend and dad, Mr Whitley as been there for me through the good times, and the bad!! We’ve had a one of a kind friendship for over 40 years. I’m have a hard time imagining him not being here when I need him, he’s always been there for me!!! Love and prayers to all !! What a GREAT man the lord has by his side!!

My Mom told me tonight and I am still in shock. I consider Mr. Whitley on of my earliest mentors. My mom was the School Nurse at Ridgegate and I would often sit in his office visiting with him while I waited on her. He always told me how much he respected my dad. I hope he knew how much I respected him. Mrs Whitley and the rest of your family, my prayers and love are with you. I know that there is a wonderful celebration as our Lord welcomes Ray home. I look forward to the day we will be reunited with him.
