Ms. Patricia A. Ali's Obituary
Patricia "Pat" A. Ali
On February 20, 2025, Patricia A. Ali passed away peacefully at the Gentle Hands Care Home. Affectionately called "Pat" by her family and friends, she was born on July 4, 1935 in New York City. Pat was one of two children and lived a life dedicated to her family. In high school, she was active in Club ADAPHA for many years and even as an officer in this prestigious Social Club.
A couple years after graduating from high school, Pat married and spent time in Camp LeJeune with her husband, Frank Scott, and their young daughter, Judy. Some years after their second child, Karen, was born, they divorced and Pat and the girls moved to Detroit where she attended the University of Detroit. She remarried to Yusef Ali. Pat then completed her Masters of Social Work degree (MSW) at Wayne State University.
Pat proudly worked for an agency that inspected and reported on geriatric facilities, nursing home residents and in-home geriatric patients. She also taught Psychology and Sociology at several schools including the Detroit College of Business. After retirement, Pat enjoyed several years living in Henderson, Nevada before moving to Olympia, Washington to be in the care of and enjoy time with her daughter, Judy. She also loved spending time with family and friends and traveling with them.
Pat leaves to mourn her passing: her devoted and loving daughter, Karen Scott of Houston, Texas; her dear cousins, Carol Carter and Herbie Young both of Charlotte, North Carolina; and beloved nephews, cousins, and special friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Webster Grant and James Frances Grant; her loving daughter, Judy A. Scott; and her loving sister and brother-in-law, Emmett and Margaret (Peggy) Baylor.
Homegoing services will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary, 5000 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas 77004.
