Craig Mcdaniel
I met Maurice Davis in 1982 when I worked at Madison High School. I was placed there right before I was moved to CLC. I used to hang around his classroom because I was an Industrial Arts teacher. He took me under his wings and helped me make the adjustments and transition of working at Madison. I was riding the bus to work at that time. To make my bus ride more efficient he would drop me off on Hiram Clarke where I wouldn't have to wait long for a bus. Sometimes he would take me home. Afterwards, while I was teaching Industrial Arts at CLC. I would always see him in the Industrial arts meetings. We remained close friends all the way to the end of his life. Just a great person who was always encouraging, promoting and wanting you to maximize your potential. A great entrepreneur and a money making machine. When I first met him he had a Volkswagen which was completely painted all over. I believe it was painted with Ron's Chicken all over the car. He was advertising that particular chicken restaurant. He took me by his mother's beauty Shop where I was able to meet his mother and sister. I remember that trailer that he kept parked in his backyard. Unfortunately, I was out of state while he transitioned. I couldn't make it back in town for his funeral. But I will always cherish and remember the great times that we shared together. R.I.P. my brother, my friend, Coach, Mr. Entrepreneur Maurice Davis.
Craig McDaniel.
