Dr. Mattelia Bennet Grays was an awesome Mentor, Sororoty Sister, Leader and Friend. It was my honor and pleasure to serve as one of her escorts for the last 12+years. Dr. Grays has touched the lives of so many people. Her legacy and philosophies will continue to shape this world and live on. She will be truly missed by so many but I will miss her more. Dr. Grays was my principal when I attended Rogers Educational Enrollment Center from 4th - 6th grades. She was always caring, concerned, firm and wanting the best out of you and for you. She was a phenomenal woman and she was one of my favorite principals. Dr. Grays and my mom (Barbara Marshall) are also sorors. She was the BEST. Our condolences to her family. She was definitely a BRIGHT light to anyone in any room that she walked in.

It was my first International conference, in our centennial year and I was fortunate to land unexpectedly at the president’s private dinner. I was horribly underdressed and seated next to THE Mattelia B. Grays. We talked all night long. She was so graceful, kind and a repository of wisdom and history!
The icing on the cake was finding out that she too, was a Wolverine! May she rest In peace and power! 🥰💗💚💙💛
