Mrs. Linda Sterling Walker 's Obituary
An artist and lifelong philanthropist, Mrs. Linda Sterling Walker committed her life to nurturing citizens of Houston Harris County Texas.
Mrs. Walker spent more than two decades working with Adventist Community Services of the Southwest Regional Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Program, but her dedication to helping her community went far beyond that realm, extending to all citizens of southeast Texas.
Mrs. Walker passed away Sunday, August 26 in hospice care. She is survived by her husband Willie M. Walker, one son, two daughters, seven grandchildren and five siblings.
Born in Shreveport, LA, Mrs. Walker displayed a caring nature for anyone who had a need whether in her neighborhood, church or all the counties that surrounded Houston. She was a thriving force for VOAD – Volunteer Organization Active in Disasters as well as the Emergency Management teams of the City of Houston, Harris County, and Fort Bend County. She worked tirelessly with the Houston Food Bank to alleviate food deserts throughout the Houston Galveston areas.
She was a master artist of both sketch and oil paintings of which many hangs in the homes of close friends and family today. She loved cruising and toured the world with Willie to many memorable locations. Her love of the outdoors drove Linda to serve as Pathfinder Master Guide. She enjoyed hiking, camping, and rock climbing with the youth.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church remained central to Mrs. Walker throughout her life, and a celebration of her life will begin at Eleven a.m. Friday at Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church in Houston. She will be buried in Brookside Memorial Park.
