Ms. Lillie Johnson Lang's Obituary
Lillie Mae (McInnis) Lang was born in Prentiss, Mississippi on August 31, 1942, to Lonnie Lee Price and Oldie McInnis. At an early age her family moved to Gulfport, Mississippi where she graduated from 33rd Avenue High School. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was known as the seamstress of the family. She could alter or make any clothing including beautiful prom dresses. While sewing military patches on a uniform, she met Army Sergeant Isaac Samuel Johnson. During their union, they lived on Army bases throughout the United States and in Frankfort, Germany. This deeply influenced her eldest son to join the Army. She would later marry Nelson Lang before his passing. With an entrepreneur spirit, she opened two businesses, a men’s boutique clothing store, The Tiger’s Den, and later Lillie’s Sewing Shop. Later in life, she became a licensed health care provider with South Mississippi Regional Center, where she earned several awards for providing the highest levels of care and training a team of health care providers. She dedicated her entire life to caring for family and others. She was an avid reader and liked things “organized and in order.” She also enjoyed a good laugh and had a sharp wit. She loved seeing her grandchildren grow and was proud to witness her eldest son become a United States Army General Officer and President & Chief Executive Officer of a major financial institution in Houston, Texas. God called her home on July 1, 2022. She was preceded in death by daughter Ahisha Johnson, by sisters Mary McInnis, Helen McInnis, and brothers O.C. McInnis, O.M. McInnis, and W.M. McInnis.
She leaves to cherish her many loving memories, her sons, Isaac Johnson IV. (Demetria) Houston, TX; Anthony Johnson (Valerie) Gulfport, MS; daughters Dr. Jackie Graves (Rome/deceased) Gulfport, MS; Michelle McInnis Gillespie, Colorado Springs, CO and close granddaughter Arishamar Johnson Birmingham, AL. Also survived by her brothers L.M. “Pete” McInnis (Shirley) Gulfport, MS; Mack “Teddy” McInnis, Chicago, IL; Ezell Spight, Chicago, IL, and sisters Mae Etta Ball (Howard/deceased) Gulfport, MS; Lucille Polk, Chicago IL; Lynn McInnis Woods (Leslie/deceased) Chicago, IL and Shirley Ann McInnis Chicago, IL. Her grandsons David (Caroline) Johnson Seattle, WA and Brice, Isaac V, Joshua Johnson of Houston, TX and great grandson Jason of Birmingham, AL and a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was truly a blessing and cared deeply for all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
