Mrs. Josephine Clark Kimble's Obituary
Josephine (“Jo”) was born on March 15, 1940, to Major and Ida Bell Clark in Meeker, Louisiana. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Clarence and Josephine Clark. Jo graduated from Carter C. Raymond High School in LeCompte, Louisiana, in 1957 and later attended Grambling State University.
Jo began her career in education with the Rapides Parish School Board in Alexandria, Louisiana, where she worked as a secretary starting in 1969. She met the love of her life, Steven Kimble, Jr., through her future father-in-law, a school bus driver who believed they would make a perfect match. They became engaged before Steven left to serve in Vietnam and were married in Alexandria, Louisiana, in 1969.
In 1971, Jo and Steven began their life together in Houston, Texas. Jo dedicated more than 40 years to serving special needs students in the field of education. Beginning in 1978, she worked at several schools in the Houston area, including Grimes Elementary School, Fondren Elementary School, Hobby Elementary School, and Dowling Middle School. Affectionately known as “Mama Jo,” she was known for her compassionate heart, her willingness to help others, and her selfless service to students and colleagues. She was a devoted wife and loving mother who cared deeply for her family and often expressed her outlook on life with the words, “If it’s God’s will.”
Jo was raised in the Baptist church but converted to Catholicism in 1971 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. She remained a faithful and devoted member for more than 40 years, serving as a Eucharistic Lay Minister and volunteer. Jo and Steven emphasized the importance of family, community, and Christian faith, establishing a strong foundation for future generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Major and Ida Bell Clark; her husband, Steven Kimble, Jr.; her sisters, Rose Davis and Agnes Johnson; and her brothers, Clarence Clark and Jimmie Clark.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Stephanie Kimble Swain (Michael); her grandsons, Chase and Caeden Swain; her brother, Desoto Clark and a host of relatives and friends.
