Thanks Dad I was your first daughter LaShawn Webb you gave me and my brother Andre Webb your last name when you married my mom Donna Webb you were the first father we ever knew. Then came along Dwayne Webb your first son he looks just like you. Then you created my sister Lakisha Webb and we all begin a future together as one. I remember the things that you taught me growing up as my father.
I couldn't say what I wanted to say when you were alive. But I would like to say today you taught me how to understand a man that's not my child's father oh, you taught me how to protect my children from the wrong man being in my life. And now my children carry your last name DeAndre Webb, Myesha Webb, and Antonio Webb thank you for teaching me how to love my children may God bless you

I prayed for a husband. My sister told me to be specific in my prayers for God will give you what you ask. So, I prayed for a Godly man, not self-righteous nor judgmental. Then I saw you. Never thought I would meet you for I knew no one to introduce you to me. But God sent me Brother Paul Jones to introduce us. When we met at a church function, you wore a neat Afro, presented an infectious smile, and wore a tailored made suit. God sent you to me, James E. Webb, because you demonstrated the qualities for which I had prayed. I still thank God, even to this day, for your parents who brought you into this world and for raising you to become the man you are.
Forty years were too short for you have always been the wind beneath my wings. We traveled together, we worked together, we attended church together, and we prayed together. We disagreed, but we were never disagreeable. So today we are celebrating a good and righteous man but not a perfect man for only God is perfect.
A lot of guys out there think they are men because they act tough and talk rough. Real men like you know that wisdom is true strength, and that gentleness is a virtue. A lot of men brag but real men don’t have to because their actions speak louder than words. A lot of guys blame anyone and everything for what doesn’t go their way, but real men accept life’s challenges and use them to grow. How do I know all of this? Because I’ve watched you, Jim, and I saw how a good man, a righteous man, a real man leads a good life. So many people of many nations are celebrating you today, and I’m proud to be one of them.

Our Brother here is not a spider but he was indeed a strong WEBB. Once you met him you were a part of his world and his demeanor was to create safety net for you and around you. My dad, James E Webb, was an extraordinary man!! He was everything that a GOOD MAN should be. He was literally the man to give the shirt off of his back. He was honest and loving. He was a brilliant entrepreneur and along with mom we made a great team, with them teaching me how they ran their business in its entirety. Dad was a phenomenal Christian. So patient while he spoke to people and taught The Word of God.
As a teen, The Webb’s became my parents. I was, by far, a kid in need of everything. Dad would come pick me up from school because I was acting up. Not once did he ever raise his voice to me. Every good thing I am is because of my Dad. He was a great mentor to my sons and myself. He urged hard work and obedience to God’s Word.
As an adult, no matter the distance or time apart, he was ALWAYS there, more than willing, to give his guidance and wisdom to me. Because of the example mom and dad’s marriage, I waited for my Christian husband. When we were married, they both accepted and embraced him lovingly, with open arms.
Dad was truly the definition of a GREAT!! His legacy will go on through my sons because he instilled discipline and hard work in them. Thank you Dad for promoting my 6 year old son, at that time, to “Manager of the Toilet Paper” at Webbs Pest Control. It was little things like this that helped them flourish into beautiful and productive, BLACK MEN.
My dad’s words, that will indefinitely stick with me are; “You have to earn anything you need or want. Hard work will get you these things. Teach your sons that too.” You rest easy dad!! If anyone ever deserves to be in His glory, it is, without a doubt, you. Thank you for all that you’ve done to lift people up, encourage them and teach them. I will always appreciate, love and miss you Dad!!!!!

Words cannot express how grateful I am for your presence in my life. When my father stepped down, it was you who stepped up. I wish I had more time to tell you just how impactful you were. As a young girl the gems you dropped are words I live by which have helped guide me into womanhood with grace + strength. Thank you for the constant display of patience. Even at my worst as a teen, you were gentle in your discipline. No matter what I did you always spoke highly of me + held me in such high regard. My fondest memories of you will be the car rides and you introducing me to the sounds of soul: and because of it my boys first favorite artist was James Brown. You would actually be proud of our taste in music!

Jim will always be in our thoughts and hearts. He was an inspirational and wise church elder, leader and teacher, and had become a great friend of my husband, Fred, and I, over many years and many trips together.
We felt "Bim" really knew the Scriptures well and could make them come alive in his teachings. His sense of humor was contagious and refreshing. I particularly recall on a trip to Vancouver where he and "the guys" hung out all afternoon, just enjoying each other's company and telling jokes, and another trip where he enjoyed savoring his cigars with the guys. Then also, there was Monday Night Fish Fries. He will be sorely missed.
We thank the Good Lord for putting such a wonderful, God-filled man in our lives. May he rest in peace and May his family find peace and comfort in good memories and in the support of many friends.
