The Ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Theta Iota Zeta Chapter, Pasadena, CA, mourn the loss of our Triumphant Soror, Mrs. Hattie M. Blanton. A Life Member of our beloved organization and a Sister who is and always will be dear to our hearts. We have enjoyed serving the community with her and always will admire her ability to spread joy to everyone in the room with her. Her strength throughout her life has been an inspiration to us all. May God enjoy your presence with him and keep your family in peace and love. We love and salute you Soror!
Aunt Hattie, as many women of her generation were, was the "queen" of undeniably scrumptious tasting meals. You know-the ones that you wish could find the recipes for.
No doubt picking up some of the skills of her own mother just how much a "pinch of this and a "pinch of that" to include.
Whenever she visited, she rolled out the red carpet with her cooking skills. She came to visit me in Bellview (outside Seattle). After expressing her desire to cook, she rolled out the red carpet and went to work cooking Thanksgiving dinner. She ordered a capon. I didn't even know what that was at the time. It is bigger than a hen and smaller than a turkey. It was delicious! The pies kept coming and all of the trimmings. I had leftovers for days because there were only 3 people to eat everything.

Love to everyone who knew her
I started teaching at Indian Hill Jr. High School, Omaha, NE. in 1962. I believe George and Hattie were our PTA, co-presidents for a number of years. I don't believe I had Debbie or Ron in class, however, I remember them in many activities. Both George and Hattie were a joy to visit with and work with. Its great to hear of their adventure in life and of their successes. Our love to their family and may God Bless. Gary/Mary Jo Kubik
The legacy Aunt Hattie left for me is the importance she placed on spending time with family which she loved to do and was willing to give to them as she had it to give. I appreciated her genuineness because you never had to guess what was on her mind. I will miss Aunt Hattie who reminded me so much of my mother.
Lawanna-Her sister Erma Stubblefield's daughter.
Aunt Hattie was big fan of the LA Dodgers, Nebraska football and Omaha steaks, not necessarily in that order.
I will never eat another steak without thinking of Hattie. I know that she will be cheering on the Cornhuskers from on high this fall.
I am the niece of Hattie Blanton. She was my mother's sister. I will really miss her. My husband and I visited her in her homes and had a great time with her. We attended church with her and had barbecues in her lovely back yards. We attended fireworks shows and watched a lot of sports with her. She was a avid sports fan. She visited us also in Dallas where we enjoyed having her. We drove from Dallas to visit my sister in Austin. One day we went to a state park in Dallas to observe people who were on the water in their boats and water skiing. We had to walk down a slope to place our chairs. I offered to help her down but she said she could do it and she did! She was feisty! The last time we visited her we went up on a mountain that was not far from her home in Altadena, CA. where we were able to look at a magnificent view over the neighborhood. Although she had to get in a wheelchair to see the view she was eager to go. Aunt Hattie, I'll see you in heaven! Love, Jean Sims
