With deep gratitude, we honor the life and legacy of Ms. Geneva Sharpe—a woman whose presence was a gift to all who knew her.
Ms. Geneva, alongside her beloved husband Mr. Talmadge Sharpe, Sr., embodied the spirit of dedication, advocacy, and love for Prairie View A&M University. Long before the term “power couple” became popular, they were living examples of it—champions of education, community, and legacy.
Their impact on PVAMU, the National Alumni Association, and especially the Houston Alumni Chapter and the Class of 1950, cannot be measured in words alone. Through tireless fundraising, scholarship support, and unwavering presence, Ms. Geneva, along with her husband, gave of herself generously and consistently. She was a beacon of grace and strength, always promoting the values of excellence and unity.
Her legacy lives on in the students who received scholarships, in the alumni who were inspired by her leadership, and in the community she helped build and nurture. She was not just a supporter—she was a cornerstone.
To her family, friends, and classmates: please know that our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with you. We share in your sorrow, but we also celebrate the incredible life Ms. Geneva lived. Her memory will continue to guide us, inspire us, and remind us of the power of love and service.
May we honor her by continuing the work she so passionately believed in. And may we always remember her with the same warmth and admiration she gave to all of us.
