During my first semester at Prairie View I got a Work-Study job as a student assistant. The man I worked for was an Accounting instructor who couldn't type to save his life. I was instructed to go to the Student Employment Office to get the paperwork for the position to be finalized. On arriving I filled out the initial paperwork and gave it to the director. He examined it and noted that I came from Bartlett, Texas. He also noted that my last name was Jones. He asked me if I knew James Carroll Jones and I told him that he was my father. He then proceeded to get up from his desk and inform me that he grew up with my father. Both of us were in a state of shock. He asked me when I arrived at PV and I told him that was my first semester. He then asked me where my father was and I told him at school. He then told me to get him on the phone. I called Bartlett High School where my father was a long time Math teacher. On hearing his old schoolmate's voice on the phone, my father was also in a state of shock. From that moment on, I had an extra father and he was on campus at PV. Mr. Yepp was a friend, a trusted advisor, and extended family. His door, ears, and heart were always open. Thank you God for bringing us together.
