I would like to send condolences on behalf of all our relatives living within the Texas and Louisiana boundaries. Ray was cherished by his Uncle Tom and Aunt Minnie Lee Robinson. They raised him from a small baby. Ray was definitely a social individual and as I would call him a family historian. He knew all of the family members and their legacies as educators, business owners like himself and those who were not interested in prestige but just were simple working relatives. I have never forgotten the time when Ray called me and wanted to honor our mother Ve Ella Woods along with our Aunt Minnie and Ruth Hollis. Ruth Hollis was like a Godmother to Ray and she was Aunt Minnie best friend. He said to me , “I loved Aunt Dee (our mother) and her cooking.” This recognition was done when he and Ophelia renewed their wedding vows. I was honored when Ray spoke at our mother’s home going celebration and honored again when he attended my retirement as an HISD Principal and educator for over 44 years. We grew up together , attended First New Mount Calvary Baptist Church as ushers , attended celebrations of life and death for so many family members. Ray knew every relative in Texas and Louisiana. In speaking with one of my sister’s ; “ she said to me that our mother treated Ray like her son”. Ray and Ophelia visited my two sisters most holidays and everyone enjoyed their company and conversation. The last time they were at my sisters home ;I am told was on May, 2024. Ray will be greatly missed by so many close relatives that he stayed in touch with through the years. To the Hunter family we are praying for you as you are going through this grieving process.
RIP Mr.Floyd 🙏🙏
Sent flowers and tree in honor of my brother in law Ray, whom I considered my brother because anything I would ask he never hesitated to assist. To a wonderful family man, Ray Hunter.
