Ms. Essmarie Morris' Obituary

On May 13, 2022 Essmarie Morris was granted eternal heavenly rest by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Her life will be celebrated Thursday, May 26, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Fwy, 77024. Visitation will be prior to service starting at 10:30 a.m.

Essmarie Ulmer- Morris better known as "Ree" & "Essie" was born in Heidelberg, MS to Vanilla Bridges-Ulmer and Wallace Ulmer. She was the second daughter of eight children. She accepted Christ at an early age and received Christian training at Oak Bowery United Methodist Church in Heidelberg, MS.
After graduating from Heidelberg High School in 1967 she relocated to Erie , Pennsylvania. In 1969 Essie united in marriage to the late Lt. James Morris. From this union two daughters were born, Monica Marie Morris and Rhonda Myshurn Morris.
While in Erie she was employed at the Dental Office of Dr. William McCoy and Lord's Corporation. In 1977 she relocated to Houston, TX were she began building her career in the real estate industry. She became a licensed escrow office and her career in the title industry spanned over 40+ years. Most recently employed at Capital Title. She was an active member of the Houston Black Real Estate Association.
Additionally, Essie was a proud and active grandmother , affectionately called "Mimi" by her granddaughters.
Essmarie Morris is preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Vanilla Ulmer brother, Wallace "Newt" Ulmer (Mary Alice ) and by daughter, Monica Marie Morris . To carry on her legacy is daughter Rhonda Morris and granddaughters , Katilynn and Makayla Evans. She also leaves behind three brothers Cleveland Ulmer(the late Mary Louise), Lee Ulmer(Earnestine) of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Bill Ulmer(Barbara) of Orangeburg, SC. Three sisters, Josephine Newell (Jimmy C) of Erie, Pennsylvania, Claudia Ulmer McRae(the late Louis McRae), and Mary M. "Lola" Ulmer of Houston, Texas. She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
