It grieves my heart to learn Ms. Dorothy has gone onto glory! She was a good friend to my mother, Geneva Mclemore. They wrote to each other every year, and when my mom passed in 2011, she began writing to me every Christmas. So for the past 11 years, I have received the most hilarious, beautifully written letters from her. It was a highlight of Christmas to exchange letters with tidbits about our families and photos. When I didn’t receive anything in 2022, I began to worry, and sent an additional letter. This year, when I didn’t receive a letter, I decided to do some research, and I’m doing so learned of her passing. On December 19, 2021 she wrote a letter where one of the lines in her letter, said… “This may be the last letter you receive from me. People tell me to stop saying that so I guess I will.” But it was her last letter to me. Even though I never had the honor of meeting her, I will cherish her letters and her beautiful heart that emanates from them. Rest in peace, Miss Dorothy.
