I’m surprised all you Air Liquide types didn’t mention not only was Don the manager of the notorious Freeport HYCO plant, late in his career, he jumped into the raging mess at Bayport! Why he did that, I’m not entirely sure. But, he could handle it. He was the coolest of the cool: of that there is no doubt. However, believe it or not, I did see Don get angry, or sort of, when he was at Corpus. The catalyst loading was not going well at all and the contractor explained to Don they were going to be days late. He didn’t take kindly to it and very firmly stated the unacceptability of their schedule and very, very firmly stated they find a way to fix their problems. I wish I could remember his exact words, but suffice it to say, they were exceptionally effective.
We all will miss him greatly and I am thankful for the opportunity to have known him and work with him over many years. For sure he has gone too soon.
To Maxine and family, may God be with you always.
