Delores Clark Family,
I call her Dee. Dee is my 2nd cousin/sister. We were the same age but had totally different personalities. Dee was the go-getter, never afraid to venture out, a networker before many of us knew what that term meant. She loved to entertain, travel and shop. In our youth, our spirits were so connected, that we could be across the room from each other, look at each other, and know exactly what the other was thinking or observing. And, most always, whatever it was, was something so funny to us. [This happened a lot in church. I know God forgave us.]
Dee graduated high school early because she had moving on in her plans. Texas Southern University (TSU) here she comes. She was the coolest member in our family because she traveled to and from Texas to California by airplane. In the 50’s that was a big deal for an African-American youth.
I would say that Dee’s life was a myriad of experiences/adventures that quenched her spirit for a “full life.” Her partner in crime was her husband, Eugene. In our adult life, geographic distance kept us from frequent face-to-face encounters, but I could count on a call from Dee. A call to catch up on the political climate and her crew, Eugene, Clifton, Tina, Colby, and Christina. This time has come much too soon, and I will miss you, Dee. It is never too late to say thank you to Aunt Essie, your granny, and Faye, my mother, for their requirement that we know our Lord and Savior.
