The family later relocated to Arkansas, and eventually settled in Houston, Texas. Daisy attended Phyllis Wheatley High School where destiny allowed her to meet the love of her life and soul mate, Mr. Leo Baxter, Sr. Together, they were blessed with the joy of matrimony and parenthood, welcoming and raising five beautiful children.
Daisy pursued a passion for nursing at Texas Women’s University. Her commitment to educational excellence led her to Prairie View A & M University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. Thereafter, she began shaping young minds by teaching science at Francis Scott Key Junior High School, in the Houston Independent School District. She later worked in Community Services, providing instruction to children in hospitals, and to those who could not attend school in a traditional setting. After thirty-three years of service, Mrs. Daisy Baxter concluded her illustrious career as an outstanding educator.
