Clara was a beautiful, inspiring woman. She was the " hostess with the mostest." I truly loved her. Clara had every reason to be haughty and boastful but she was neither. She was truly humble and so accepting of everyone. May God receive her into His kingdom and assign her the finest mansion and the finest Bentley in the Heaven (smile).

Ms. McLaughlin was a true pioneer in media and a kind soul. She gave me an opportunity to write for The Florida Star during my senior year in high school back in 2002-2003. I will forever be appreciative for the opportunity she provided to me and the leadership she displayed. She will truly be missed!

Clara was a key awards recipient celebrating National Homeownership Month in this photo. She served our community with courage and mentored African American small business owners like myself by inspiring us to serve. She received so many awards that I witnessed in my 15 years of having been privileged to be in her world and yet still there is so much more she deserved. I thank GOD for giving me the Grace to be nurtured by the beautiful CM.
I recommended that Clara start a television station in Longview, Texas when she agreed to come be a judge in the Miss Black Tyler Beauty Pageant in 1978. I had done a television interview with her in 1977 when she came to Austin, promoting her book, The Black Parents' Handbook. I became a shareholder and Board Member of KLMG-TV. We became lifelong friends. I miss her.
