Brenda J. Cook's Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother Brenda J. Cook. She passed away on April 20, 2025. She left this world entirely too soon, but she was surrounded by her loving children.
Brenda graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas. Before retiring she worked as a Home Health Aide, she truly enjoyed helping and taking care of others. She eventually moved to the DC area to help care for her grandkids and be closer to her daughters. Not only was she a loving grandmother, she was also an avid reader. She passed her passion of reading on to her children and her grandkids.
In her spare time she loved watching old tv shows and westerns. She also had a love for comic books which she shared with a few of her nephews. When she wasn’t reading, she could strike up conversations with complete strangers like she’d known them for years.
Brenda is survived by her children Sybongile Cook, Jada Cook Hinton, and Esa Cook; grandkids Tye Hinton, Layla Hinton, and Zoe Hinton; her older brother Pre D. Moss, and a host of family and friends.
Brenda’s life will be celebrated on May 31, 2025, at Mabrie Memorial Mortuary.
