To the Echols Family,
It was told to me that my grandmother, Governor, the youngest of the 4 girls of Ross and Pearlie Owens Medlock, named Cousin Bonnie Ray. My grandmother was adamant that I knew the family members. I am now the matriarch of Charlie and Governor Medlock Cotton's lineage in Fort Worth. I last saw Bonnie at Cousin Harbard's funeral. We took pictures in front of the church and there was a representative of each of the Medlock daughter's offspring in the photo. Bonnie took my address and telephone number. He sent me a Christmas card that year, I was so surprised and yet overjoyed. Later I heard he was ill and I called him one day and he told me about his disease. I told him I would pray for him and if there was anything that I could do, I would.
Family, be strong and lean on the Lord. Bonnie was a servant to mankind and he knew and loved the Lord and his family. He is now in the hands of the Lord and surrounded by our loving family.
May God in His infinite wisdom bless each and every one of you as your mourn our beloved Bonnie Ray.
With love and sympathy,
Freda Smith Murray
Daughter of Joyce Cotton Smith
Granddaughter of Charlie and Governor Medlock Cotton
