Grief can be so hard , but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your love one today and always. I was so blessed to have met Mrs. Rogers in 1994 . She hired me as one of her Assistant Principal at Holland Middle School after a rigorous interview. My memories that I still cherish today ; Mrs. Rogers was an impeccable mentor, coach and most of all educator. She allowed me to share innovative ideas and trends with students at Holland Middle School and supported me as we reached out to students who needed that extra push. She inspired me as I transitioned to Jefferson Davis High School as an Assistant Principal ( now Northside High) with great words of wisdom as I was climbing the academic ladder. Her words followed me as I became the Principal at Burrus Elementary Fine Arts Magnet for over 21 years ; now retired. I am sharing some of these memories because Mrs. Rogers gave me the opportunity . At that starting point that to me was one of her greatest accomplishments because I was able to do the same with aspiring leaders . May God continue to bless her daughter Samaya who is following in her mother’s footsteps as a highly effective educator.
