Yoyo as I would call her was such a breath of fresh air. I would randomly text her hey Yoyo and she would think it was the funniest message ever. To hear of her loss has truly made my heart sad. I love you sister 💓.

Cuz, this is so difficult for me to write. I can't believe God has called you home so soon. It's clear to me now why Dr Elizabeth Kubler-Ross identified the first stage of grief as denial. I'm literally in shock & disbelief. how can this be? why has this happened?... These are the questions that keep replaying in my mind over & over again. The reality is this will never make sense to me on a human level. Maybe you & God will take the time to explain it to me one day. But until then, I will grieve your loss, yet cherish your memory. I am humbled to have had the opportunity to know you and love you and your family. Ms. Yolanda, you’ve left this world far too soon, but the love and light you gave will never fade. Our dear Soror Yolanda (our LS #3) and I had a birthday a day apart. We were going to turn 50 years old together this year! No mater how Yolanda felt, she reached out on the 11th and I reached out on the 12th. It was our pattern no matter how often we talked throughout the year.
One of our other line sisters (#5 Sherie Thomas) and I went to visit for Yolanda's birthday party in Florida in 2018! We had a blast!
Dr. Payne-Jameau and I graduated from UNO together. In college, we did so much together from studying to joining AKA! And we both went on to become doctors like we said we would.
I’m thankful that Yolanda is restored in the Holy Spirit and one day we will meet again.

From taking trips in your tiny car around Florida when I would come visit lol, to sending my daughter her first Ivy Box subscription when you found out she finally became an AKA you always understood the assignment! As my cousin, you set the bar HIGH for education amongst so many other parts of how to live life without regret. You did EVERYTHING with grace and love never asking for anything in return. When you came to visit us in VA one summer, I took you around DC and out of all people we saw Bill Clinton land and get out to greet people on his way back to the White House! You couldn’t tell us anything that day lol. I give my love and deepest condolences to your children, husband and the rest of our family! This is a loss that hits different but we are comforted in the fact that we know you are free of pain. May your light continue to shine bright. May your legacy continue with excellence and May you be at peace finally with our heavenly creator. I love you, and it’s not goodbye but as granddaddy would always say…..see you later.

Yolanda was a radiant soul — bold in spirit, courageous in heart, and wrapped in a kindness that was both sweet and gentle. Her presence carried a quiet grace that felt like light, and her life was a beautiful reflection of love in action.
To have known her was to witness God’s tenderness in human form.
Though she now rests beyond what we can see, her spirit lives on — in love given, in memories cherished, and in the peace that reminds us she is held safely in eternal light.
What a blessing it was to walk even a small part of this life with her. And what a gift it will always be to carry her memory in my heart.
